Middle of the Mitten is an event celebrating the anniversary of The Record Lounge and its commitment to local and independent music and businesses. If you guys are looking for some last-minute New Years plans, let me tell you about Mittenfest VII. While Middle of the Mitten was still just a really good idea, Mittenfest was already getting some traction as an awesome benefit concert in Southeast Michigan. The date drifted later into December, and now it’s an awesome way to spend New Years Eve, New Years Day, and a day or two on either side. They typically feature some of the best acts around Michigan and the Midwest (this year includes MOTM alums The Bangups, Gun Lake, and Joe Hertler, as well as MOTM5 artist The HandGrenades), and the proceeds benefit 826 Michigan, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting creative middle and high school-age kids.
